UNION WIN! Apollo Care Charingfield members stand up and win backpay!

HSU members at Apollo Care Charingfield who were being paid the wrong base rate have stood together and rectified the situation, including winning backpay!

As per the Aged Care Award, the base pay of an ACE level 4 direct care worker is $31.24 per hour from the first full pay period after 1 July 2024, thanks to the 3.75 per cent award minimum wage increase HSU members already won.

However, Charingfield did not pay the correct wages.

HSU members recently raised their concerns with your workplace delegate Brenda who worked together with the local organiser Hyojun Kim to get all members on board and raise the issue with management. 

On 23 August 2024, Charingfield contacted the HSU to confirm “rates had been adjusted on the last payroll and the backpays were processed last week as ADHOC payment”.

Management claimed the delay was caused by its use of an external payroll service.

Please check your payslip and contact your local organiser Hyojung on 0458 012 322 if you think you are not getting the correct wages.

This is a great win and shows what happens when workers come together and build a stronger union in their workplace! Your workplace delegate Brenda did a great job uncovering the discrepancies and then mobilising members to take action!
