UNION WIN: $120k in back pay for Albury Wodonga Theatre Assistants!

Published March 8, 2021
Last year, Theatre Assistant members at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital noticed that they were not graded correctly as per the Ramsay Health Care New South Wales and Health Services Union (HSU) New South Wales Enterprise Agreement 2016 and had been underpaid for all the duties they carried inside the theatres.
Alongside their union organiser and the HSU industrial officer, delegates approached management to rectify the problem.
After many months of union representations to Ramsay, all the theatre assistants have now been reclassified to their rightful grade and have been back paid a total amount of $120,000. A big congratulations to all who have persevered throughout the discussions and assisted in the process!
Do you think there may be something not right with your pay? Do you know things that could be improved in your workplace?
Change can only be achieved by workers joining their union and organising for a better and safer workplace. If you know someone who is not a member of the HSU, encourage them to join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or by calling 1300 478 679.
Current members who have an issue at work or any questions can contact your union organiser Shanon Ranjit on 0437 132 558.
Thank you again to all members who campaigned for this win at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital!
