Tell the Prime Minister we need a pay rise now

As previously reported the Federal Government is trying to back away from its election promise to aged care workers to ‘get wages moving’ in the sector. In its submission to the Fair Work Commission, the Government proposed that the 15% pay increase in the Commission’s interim decision should be phased in gradually, in two instalments over an 18-month period.

The Sector is in crisis and the decision to phase in aged care pay rises over two years with an increase of 10% in July 2023 and a further increase of 5% in July 2024 is completely unacceptable.

All aged care workers deserve a significant pay rise now – not in 18 months.

Now more than ever is it crucial that we stand together. We have 2 major actions underway that we are calling on all aged care workers to get actively involved in –

To make sure our voice is heard loud we are circulating a petition to the Prime Minister, calling on the government to immediately pass on the interim pay increase and support the next stage of our Work Value Case – please click here for your copy of the petition. This can be printed off and shared with your co-workers, family and friends. We want as many people filling out the petition as possible. Your HSU Organisers are currently conducting site visits to circulate the petition.

HSU members will also be rallying at Parliament House, Canberra on 8 February 2023. This is a vital opportunity to make our voices heard. If you’re able to take leave or you’re not working on the day, please let us know if you can attend.

If you have any questions, would like to return completed petitions or would like more information about attending the rally, please contact your local organiser or alternatively contact [E-Mail not displayed].

If your colleagues are not yet HSU members, ask them to join so that they can also have their voice heard. They can join now by visiting www.hsu.asn.au/join or calling 1300 HSU NSW.
