SummitCare Liverpool: Major Workplace Change
-
Published June 17, 2021
SummitCare has notified the HSU of major workplace change at SummitCare Liverpool 155. Please see correspondence at this link.
HSU representatives attended a meeting with SummitCare regarding this change at SummitCare Liverpool 173 on the 8th of June 2021. SummitCare has advised that they will be closing the SummitCare 155 site for refurbishment. The purpose and the plan is to develop it as an independent living site.
SummitCare has advised that most of the employees currently working at SummitCare Liverpool 155 will either transfer over to the Summit care 173 or Baulkham Hills. They have advised that there are currently a lot of vacancies at the Baulkham Hills site which will be offered to affected employees.
As announced by SummitCare in the Consultation Meeting, the change will affect the Master Roster at SummitCare 173 with the expectation that the new roster will be implemented by the 5th of July 2021. Although SummitCare has advised you will need to apply for the vacant shifts in Baulkham Hills and any other SummitCare Branches close to your locations, you have right to be consulted with, which includes one on one meetings before they make changes to your contract and current roster.
SummitCare has stated that they are obligated to meet your contractual hours, whether it be at 173 or at another one of the SummitCare homes. If your contracted hours will be affected by the change, please contact your management and your Union to discuss the matter further.
It is important that HSU members understand that this is a proposed change. You have a right to raise issues with the change and the employer must reasonably consider the concerns prior to the implementation.
Any member with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact HSU on 1300 478 679 or email at [E-Mail not displayed]. If you know a colleague that is not yet an HSU member, encourage them to join today at www.hsu.asn.au/join or over the phone on 1300 478 679.
In unity,
Gerard Hayes
Secretary, HSU NSW/ACT/QLD
