St Basil’s: Your EA is going to a vote, make sure you have your say!

Dear Member,
Following many months of negotiations, your St Basil’s enterprise agreement is going to a ballot for staff to have their say on.
HSU members at St Basil’s have faced many challenges during these negotiations. You rejected managements first insulting offer of 4 per cent over two years. HSU members stood together, made their voice heard, petitioned colleagues, and presented a united front to the employer!
This campaign has doubled HSU membership at St Basil’s and more than doubled the wages offer!
While not management has not agreed to all your claims, HSU members have fought and won many improvements to the very outdated EA. These achievements include:
- 4 per cent wage increase, effective from 1 January 2024 (with backpay to from 1 Jan 2024)
- A further 2.5 per cent increases in July 2024 and July 2025
- A new classification structure
- All other improvements retained, such as predictable hours confirm in contracts,
- Paid union meetings
- Improved overtime rates.
- No requirement to provide a medical certificate for up to three days leave
- Clear Disciplinary Procedure enshrined in the agreement
- Delegates Rights clause
- Right to Disconnect clause
You can find a copy of the proposed enterprise agreement HEREv. If you have any questions or concerns about the enterprise agreement, please contact HSU bargaining officer Ciaran Byrne for assistance at [E-Mail not displayed].
Voting will open on Monday, 15 July at 9am and close Sunday, 21 July 5pm. Before voting opens, your employer must share a copy of the proposed agreement with you and provide details on all the proposed changes.
Without united, active HSU members these improvements would not have been possible.
Encourage your workmates to join the HSU. Together you have strength in your workplace. New members can join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
