SESLHD: Proposed restructure, Healthy Aging Program

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District has advised the HSU of a proposed restructure of the Healthy Aging Program (HAP) within Prince of Wales Community Health.

According to SESLHD, the proposed change is to support current clients and improve services. However, this restructure would see a reduction in FTE and some Health Education Officer positions deleted, along with realignment of reporting lines.

HAP services have been managed by POWCH since 2005, with classes being held for various programs designed for people aged 50 and over. However, the referrals have no clear acceptance and discharge criteria, which the District says makes it hard to measure the success of the program. POWCH has conducted a review and now proposes to cease HAP on 27 September 2024, realigning services to create Bridge to Community Exercise Program (BCEP) which they plan to commence from 14 October 2024.
