Scalabrini Roster Change at Chipping Norton – Know your rights!

Health Services Union members met with Scalabrini Chipping Norton Management yesterday to discuss the proposed roster change and the effect it will have on HSU Members.
Scalabrini are proposing some changes that may impact Members, including proposals to changes to shift start and finish time for Carers. The changes will not apply to the long shifts( 6:30 am -2:30 pm and 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm will remains the same. The Changes will apply to some of the current short shifts ( 6:30 am to 10:30 am , 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm . Scalabrini intend to extend these short shifts to long shifts. Scalabrini Management have confirmed that this change will be applied for only Carers at this stage.
Following the consultation meeting yesterday, the proposed new roster will be published on 8th of February on Wednesday and Scalabrini management have proposed to commence the new roster from 22nd of February 2023.
Scalabrini management have already started the one on one consultation meetings from yesterday and they intend to finish these by Friday 20th of Jan 2023.
Carers are asked to advise their management regarding their availability and shift preference via Shift Availability and Request Form. Remember Your employer cannot change your contracted hours unless you are agreed to do so.
It’s important that you know your rights during this consultation period.
1. Scalabrini must consult with all affected staff members. That means:
· Scalabrini must provide, in writing, all relevant information about the change.
· Scalabrini must invite you to give your views about the proposed change.
· Scalabrini must consider any views about the impact of the change.
2. HSU members have the right to be represented by the union. If your colleagues are not yet HSU members, encourage them to join the union so that they are represented.
3. Do not sign anything you are not happy with. All HSU members are encouraged to seek advice before signing or agreeing to any changes.
