RPA: Changes to parking fees
-
Published January 15, 2024
Concerning reports are coming through from RPA regarding the upcoming changes to parking fees. Here is what we know:
- From February 1, 2024, parking fees will be reinstated for ALL STAFF.
- Staff with a parking permit will be required to pay $27.20 per week. Fees were $24.00 per fortnight prior to the COVID pandemic. This is an increase of 127% or $790.40 per year.
- Staff without approved parking will be subject to a daily rate of $23.30.
Many of you have filled in a survey expressing your disgust at the proposed change. It is indeed ridiculous that staff are being slugged with this additional cost during a cost-of-living crisis. While these survey responses are a good start, they won't be enough to effectively challenge the changes.
So, what can you do?
Come to the emergency meeting about the reintroduction of parking fees this Friday January 19. It will be held in the KPEC Auditorium at 1pm.
Talk to your colleagues about the car parking situation and encourage them to be involved in the HSU campaign for fair car parking at RPA.
United we stand, divided we fall!
