Paramedics again denied Recognition of Prior Service: Time to fight!

ADHSU members fought hard during the Priority One campaign last year to stop the flow of highly skilled paramedics to better-paying services in other states and territories.
Now, NSWA is using the introduction of the new pay scale and award to deny recognition and remuneration to paramedics who had previous experience in other services. While new paramedics will receive recognition of prior experience, this issue will not be fixed for any paramedics who joined the service prior to November 2024. This unprecedented executive decision was made despite the recommendation of NSWA’s own Industrial Relations team.
ADHSU members reject this stance. The entire purpose of the fight members had with the government last year was about ensuring NSW Ambulance could continue to attract and retain highly skilled paramedics. This new interpretation from the Service goes against this aim and is frankly baffling. Why should recognition of prior service and experience now stop at Paramedic Year 2, when there are now six increments? How does the service aim to ‘retain’ those who have already transferred over if they are paying a Year 7 paramedic a Year 2 rate?
ADHSU members demand that the Service appropriately regrade those who have been left behind by this incorrect interpretation of the new increments.
Members have decided to fight this injustice, but they need to know if you’re affected and if you’re on board! Fill in this short survey to kick things off and show NSWA that they can’t delay your pay!
