Organised HSU members are winning at Annesley Haberfield!

As a result of tenacious fight of the organised HSU members at Annesley Haberfield since the first offsite Union meeting with your local Organiser, held on 2 June 2021, we have made great changes together.
Members are reporting they do not have to suffer from the negative psychological impact caused by the inappropriate language and tone in verbal and written communication.
Workers not being required to check the messages from the management when off duty, and one day personal (sick) leave requirement being confirmed to be based on the EA are other small but important wins.
The unsafe staffing level of the night shift was one of the urgent issues. After multiple negotiations management finally agreed to hire more staff on 22 July 2021.
Two care workers on the night shift feeling extremely unsafe, looking after 86 residents, will now have an additional staff member on the shift from 18 August 2021. This is a huge win.
And while these wins are incredibly important we need to keep organising your workplace. So if you know someone who isn’t a union members there’s never been a more important time to encourage them to join. Joining is easy: visit www.hsu.asn.au/join, call 1300 478 679 or contact your local delegate or Organiser at [E-Mail not displayed] or 0458 012 322.
Finally, as today is THANK YOU DAY I want to extend my thanks to all Annesley Haberfield aged care workers for the work you do every day.
In unity,
Gerard Hayes
Secretary, HSU NSW/ACT/QLD
