NSWHP: Proposal to grandfather Couriers classified as Technical Assistants

NSW Health Pathology has contacted the HSU with a proposal for ‘grandfathering’ Couriers classified as Technical Assistants within NSW Health Pathology (NSWHP).

NSWHP say they have reviewed the duties performed by pathology couriers and now claim to have found that some couriers have been classified as Technical Assistants (TAs) but are less frequently performing Technical Assistant duties.

According to NSWHP, due to changes in operational processes, these workers are mainly performing driving duties and new Couriers employed in the future will be classified as motor-vehicle drivers. However, they are proposing to ‘grandfather’ the couriers currently classified as TAs on their current remuneration as per the Award.
