Randwick General Subbranch Demand Action on Parking
-
Published April 23, 2021
At the recent General Meeting of the HSU Randwick Campus General Subbranch, members voiced their dissatisfaction with the staff parking arrangments.
Their objections were:
- There is currently over a 5 year wait for staff parking,
- While on the waiting list, staff must look for street parking, often taking over 30 minutes,
- Shift workers who have passes at times cannot find parking because the carparks full,
- There is no staff parking being planned for the new buildings being constructed,
- The staff parking is too expensive and does not consider the low incomes of some workers.
The parking situation at Randwick is going from bad to worse, and HS members have had enough. At the meeting subbranch members agreed to form a Parking Working Party to guide the campaign for better staff parking at Randwick. The Working Party has already met and has begun brainstorming proposals to improve the situation. The Party will report back to members at the Subbranches next General Meeting.
Any members who could not make the meeting, but want to contribute, can email their HSU Organiser [E-Mail not displayed].
