Today, Nambucca Valley Care management shamefully denied HSU officials entry to your workplace, despite the officials being accredited to enter the site to perform an important Work Health and Safety Inspection on behalf of union members.
This comes after HSU members repeatedly raised issues of bullying, harassment, and intimidation by NVC management, which we are concerned present a health and safety risks to workers.
What is Nambucca Valley Care management hiding?
Nambucca Valley Care have no genuine reason to deny HSU permit holders access to the site, as all steps for accredited officials to access the workplace were properly taken.
The HSU considers NVC management’s denial of access to accredited WHS permit holders be a breach of the WHS Act, and unlawful.
HSU members have reported a concerning and unsafe management culture at Nambucca Valley Care that includes bullying, harassment, verbal abuse, and intimidation of staff. Union members also reported safety concerns due to unsafe rostering, lack of training and education for staff and adverse action taken by management against union members.
Nambucca Valley Care has a legal responsibility under the WHS Act 2011 to provide a safe working environment, which includes your physical safety and psychological health at work. If you feel you are experiencing bullying, discrimination or abuse please contact your local HSU organiser by emailing [E-Mail not displayed].
Where to from here?
HSU members will continue to fight for a safe and healthy workplace, which includes your psychological and physical health. HSU is seeking legal advice while escalating the matter to the appropriate tribunal and notifying the safety regulator, SafeWork NSW.
