Mamu Health Service: Outcome of dispute
-

As you will be aware, management at Mamu Health Service recently attempted to dock the pay of staff who attended a weekend gathering to discuss workers' concerns.
Mamu argued that the gathering was in breach of Queensland Public Health Orders, and workers who attended were directed to take a COVID test and isolate until they returned a negative result.
In response, your Union wrote to Mamu to advise there was no restriction on outdoor gatherings, held a meeting of workers, and demanded that Mamu pay staff who were sent home their full wages and entitlements for the duration of the direction.
In a great win for workers, we can advise that Mamu management has backed down and agreed to pay the staff their full wages for the period.
This is yet another example of the importance of belonging to your Union. When we stand up together to defend your rights, our individual voices are much louder. This is the power of the union.
