Lumus Bargaining Update Newsletter

Bargaining was placed on hold over the Christmas and New Year period. Your HSU Bargaining Team met with Lumus recently to restart discussions and can report we are heading towards the end of the process. Your HSU Bargaining Team have pushed back hard and have been secure in principle agreement to the following:

  1. Average of 4.2% wage increase (backdated to 1 July 2022) in the first year and 3.5% in years 2 and 3.
  2. New classification structure that improves career progression.Recall change to minimum 3 hours at double time (200%).
  3. Shift loading penalty to be paid from 7pm (not 9pm) at 15% and any night shift will attract a shift loading of 25%. If you are rostered a random night shift in a week of day shifts, that shift will attract double time (200%).
  4. Weekend penalties increased to 150% from Midnight Friday to Midnight Saturday and 175% from Midnight Saturday to Midnight Sunday.
  5. On call to remain unchanged.
  6. Professional allowance reimbursing actual cost – Agreement to reflect which registrations this applies to.
  7. The inclusion of ‘Status Quo’ provisions in the dispute settlement procedure.
  8. Increased Compassionate Leave from 2 days to 4 days and extended to include access to the leave for instances of miscarriage and stillbirths.
  9. Employees to be paid the applicable percentages when their rostered hours of work finish after midnight on a public holiday.
  10. The inclusion of Family & Domestic Leave.
  11. An employee with less than 1 years’ service will be entitled to 1 week severance pay and 2 weeks when an employee is over the age of 45 years old in the event of redundancy.
  12. The inclusion of Casual Conversion rights.
  13. Increase New Year’s Eve penalty from 200% to 250%.

So, what next?

Lumus will shortly provide a copy of the Enterprise Agreement in its final form which will be sent onto members. Lumus has indicated they are looking to the end of February to commence the access period and ballot. More communications will be sent out once dates have been locked in.

Lumus are also in the process of finalising the new classification structure and will send communications out to employees in the coming weeks. Your bargaining team has fought hard so far and will continue to push for the best possible conditions for members.
