Kangara Waters Care Centre: Major Workplace Change
-
Published October 14, 2022
The Health Services Union has received correspondence from members to advise of major workplace change affecting hospitality staff at Kangara Waters Care Centre ACT.
It is very disappointing to see that despite the dedication and commitment aged care workers have shown during what has been an incredibly difficult two years of COVID, management are proposing to reduce hours.
We understand this can be a very difficult and stressful time. The HSU will be available to support and represent members. As with any workplace change you have rights.
You have the right to:
- Be notified in writing what impact the change may have on you
- Have time to consider any proposed changes
- Ask questions or raise concerns, including refusing the change and/or offering alternative suggestions. Cuts to hours can occur, but only with a redundancy or redeployment to a comparable position
- Say NO. Contracted hours cannot be cut without your approval
- Be represented by the HSU at any meeting to discuss the change.
It is very important that members are aware they should not sign any documents unless they are happy with the proposed change.
If you have any concerns or queries about the change, please contact HSU Organiser Min Beliaiev on 0408 740 434 or [E-Mail not displayed]. Alternatively, you can ring the HSU on 1300 478 679.
Do you know someone who isn’t a member of the HSU? Send them this email. Being a member of the HSU means there’s always someone by your side fighting for your rights. They can join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
