John Hunter Hospital- Amended Notification of Workplace Change

HNELHD has advised of amendments to the proposed changes to the Bedmaker/Afternoon Shift Cleaner model in Patient Support Services at John Hunter Hospital
Stage 1 of the proposal is estimated to commence within 4 weeks and will involve the following changes.
- Bedmaker staff change in title to “Clean Team” agreed via a survey conducted among the staff. (Afternoon shift cleaning staff will become part of the Clean Team in Stage 2)
- Bedmaker staff will be allocated a data-enabled mobile phone where they will be responsible for scheduled duties and infectious/discharge cleans and bedmaking as required.
- Task allocation will be received via WASP on data-enabled mobile phones where Clean Team staff member (previously Bedmaker) will self-allocate tasks in their assigned blocks.
- Continued visibility of hospital activity via infectious/discharge cleaning data.
- Shift length to be 8.5 hours in duration rather than 8 hours to incorporate 30-minute unpaid break as per relevant Award conditions.
