If you're sick, you're sick!

The Health Services Union has received reports of SNP workers being directed to attend work after recovering from COVID but still feeling unwell, or while sick from a non-COVID illness.
Every worker has the right to access personal leave while they are sick. SNP cannot direct workers to return to work in these circumstances.
Today the HSU has contacted Human Resources with these reports and this afternoon has received this response from SNP:
It has always been SNP’s position that if a worker is unfit for work, they can access their sick leave entitlements. SNP is not directing any worker who is unfit for work to attend the workplace and we will continue to comply with our obligations.
Your health and safety is our primary concern. If you or your colleague feel pressured to work while sick, please let your HSU Industrial Team know by emailing [E-Mail not displayed].
I want to thank those members who have raised these concerns on behalf of their colleagues. Making sure SNP is a safe workplace has never been more important and when workers unite, workplaces are at their safest.
If you know someone who isn’t a union member, let them know about sick leave and their rights by forwarding them this newsletter. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au or by calling 1300 478 679.
