HSU Win! Uniting to back pay members for on-call meal allowance

HSU members from Uniting Crookwell and Taralga have been fighting for more than 12 months to recover unpaid allowances which were not paid by your former employer, CTAC.
HSU members raised concerns regarding their unpaid meal breaks while working afternoon and night shifts at the Taralga Facility.
Members should be paid for all time worked, including times when they are on an unpaid meal break but remain on-call.
However, at CTAC, HSU members said that they were unable to take a meal break without being interrupted and they were not able to leave the facility. This meant that members were not getting their proper meal break and should have been paid.
Uniting have agreed with HSU members that an on-call meal allowance applies. Uniting have agreed to pay the allowance moving forward, as well as back paying the allowance for the past 6 years.
This is a huge win for all HSU members at CTAC. When union members are strong and united, we can achieve great results like this.
HSU members will receive a letter from Uniting outlining the amount of back pay they are set to receive. This should be processed for payment on Wednesday 21 December 2022.
If you have not received a letter or believe you’re entitled to back pay, please contact your Organiser Renee Sheridan on 0408 132 351 or via [E-Mail not displayed].
