Operations Assistants in WSLHD have won back the Infectious Cleaning Allowance!
Last week, members took the decision to refuse lifting and transporting infectious patients until WSLHD agreed to our demands. This strong collective action worked! WSLHD have now agreed to the following:
- To pay the Infectious Cleaning Allowance to OAs who lift or transport infectious patients.
- To back pay staff who are entitled to the Infectious Cleaning Allowance.
- To sit down with HSU members to come an agreement on duties and criteria where the allowance is payable.
The HSU will be meeting with WSLHD on Tuesday 25 October to nail down the details.
Given that WSLHD has reversed their position completely and has accepted our demands, HSU members will continue to lift and transport infectious patients as per usual while negotiations on duties progress.
Well done to every member who stood strong and refused to back down. This outcome wouldn’t have been possible without HSU members working together. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
