HSU members enforce workers' rights at RSL Lifecare

In response to the Health Services Union dispute regarding workers’ contract rights, RSL Lifecare has now reissued letters to impacted employees informing them of their right to refuse changes to their contracts of employment.
The dispute came about because RSL Lifecare had failed to inform staff that any changes to contracted hours of work need to be agreed to. HSU members raised concerns that the consultation process, particularly around contracts, had been misleading.
Next steps
Members who have been impacted should have received new letters, including further information about timeframes.
Members are encouraged to meet with RSL Lifecare if they have any concerns about proposed changes to their contracts – and to remember you have the right to refuse. If you have any questions, contact your local HSU organiser or email [E-Mail not displayed].
This is what it means to be HSU.
I want to acknowledge those members who came forward with concerns on behalf of themselves and others. Your actions have meant that RSL Lifecare workers will have a clear understanding of their rights, and that RSL Lifecare knows that it must uphold these.
If you know someone who isn’t an HSU member, let them know what membership means at RSL Lifecare – members makings sure their collective rights are upheld. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679. We are stronger together.
