HPEA Update: HSU pushes for cost of living increase before Christmas

Over the last month it has become clear that negotiations on the Health Professionals Enterprise Agreement will continue into 2024.
Although there have finally been some responses to union claims, the HSU and other unions have agreed it’s unacceptable for members to go more than 12 months without any pay increase because of the government’s delays. The ACT Government has already committed to a $1250 cost of living payment through the core negotiations – the least they could do is make this payment now to all employees covered by the HPEA.
Unions wrote to Chief Minister Andrew Barr requesting that he exercise his discretion and approve this payment to be made before Christmas. You can see the letter here.
We have requested a response by midday this Monday 4 December 2023 and will keep members updated.
Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
