HNELHD: Proposed changes to Manning Mental Health Adult Community Team

Dear Member,

Hunter New England Local Health District has advised the HSU of a proposed realignment of the existing clinical team within the Adult Community Mental Health Team (ACMHT), Manning Mental Health Service.

The District claims this change is being introduced as a response to ‘tension’ between the Manning Base Hospital (MBH) Emergency Department (ED) and the Extended Hours Team (EHT) with respect to responsiveness to Emergency Department presentations. The District is proposing to rename the teams as Intake, Acute Care (ACT) and Continuing Care (CCT). The District states that to achieve this, the Acute Care Team (formerly known as the Extended Hours Team) needs to move from a combined care coordinator service to a dedicated acute care service.

The District says the proposed changes will result in small modifications to some of the existing position descriptions.
