HNELHD: Proposed changes for Wardsperson/Cleaners, Belmont Hospital

The HSU has received correspondence from Hunter New England Local Health District about a proposal to change shift times and locations for Wardsperson/Cleaners within the Sub Acute Unit (SAU) and Emergency Department (ED) at Belmont Hospital.

The proposal involves the following changes:

  • Wardsperson/Cleaners to be relocated from the SAU to the ED
  • Shift times to be changed from 0600 – 1430 to 0700 – 1530
  • HealthShare cleaners currently in ED to be relocated to SAU

The District says this change is to ‘improve service delivery within the emergency department as there will be a Wardsperson available when the Health and Security Assistant is attending security matters, thus decreasing risk to patient and staff’. They are proposing a three month trial of the new arrangements from 3 June 2024.
