The HSU has received correspondence to confirm that the closure of Wallsend Aged Care Facility will be going ahead.

This is deeply disappointing news for members who have provided an exceptional service to the community and who fought to keep the facility open despite pressure from management.

Management have advised that permanent staff employed by HNELHD will be redeployed where possible as per the Managing Excess Staff policy. To date, the HSU has not received any correspondence relating to staff employed by HealthShare NSW. Members will receive further updates as soon as this is received.

No date has yet been given for the final closure.
