HealthShare: Have your say on changes to bedmaker and cleaner model
-
Published March 26, 2024
Dear Member,
Last year, HealthShare made changes to the afternoon bedmaker and cleaner model.
Specifically, the following changes were implemented:
- Bedmaker staff change in title to “Clean Team” agreed via a survey conducted among the staff. (Afternoon shift cleaning staff will become part of the Clean Team in Stage 2)
- Bedmaker staff to be allocated a data-enabled mobile phone and responsible for scheduled duties and infectious/discharge cleans and bedmaking as required.
- Task allocation to be received via WASP on data-enabled mobile phones where Clean Team staff member (previously Bedmaker) self-allocates tasks in their assigned blocks.
- Continued visibility of hospital activity via infectious/discharge cleaning data.
- Shift length to be 8.5 hours in duration rather than 8 hours to incorporate 30-minute unpaid break as per relevant Award conditions.
Copies of both correspondence for members’ reference can be viewed here:

Please send your feedback to your organiser Matt Ramsay at [E-Mail not displayed] by COB Friday 5 April, using the subject line Cleaner/bedmaker review feedback.
