HSU members at SCC Goulburn are concerned that a number of allowances have not been paid correctly.

On Call Allowance

Members who are directed to remain on call during a meal break are eligible to be paid the On Call Meal Break Allowance of $13.75 per period.

It is understood that two staff are rostered to work night shift at SCC Goulburn, but only the Registered Nurse receives the allowance.

This allowance should be payable to all employees expected to remain on call and who qualify per the enterprise agreement.

Meal Allowance

Members who work overtime may be entitled to either a supplied meal, or a paid meal allowance. Meal Allowance applies in the following circumstances:

An employee who is required to work overtime for more than two hours and such overtime goes beyond 7:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. shall, at the option of the employer, be supplied with a meal or shall be paid.

Overtime – Breakfast – $13.44 per meal

Overtime – Lunch – $17.39 per meal

Overtime – Evening Meal – $25.38 per meal

Workers can claim up to six years of back pay but only union members with have the resources of the union in support of a claim.
