Government offer received. Work bans paused. Members to vote.

The NSW Government has presented a formal pay offer today. It is crucial that members carefully consider the proposal. In good faith, industrial action will be put on hold while members have time to examine and vote on the pay offer.

The proposal affects around 70,000 health workers, including hospital cleaners, wards people, allied health professionals, security officers, and all other HSU classifications. Here are the key elements of the offer:

  • A flat $3,500 increase to all base pay rates of pay (for example, if you earn $60 000 per year your base rate of pay will increase to $63 500 per year).
  • A 0.5 percent increase to superannuation.
  • An increase in the proportion of salary packaging benefits members can keep from 50% to 60% (back-paid to 1 July 2023).
  • Commencement of crucial Award reform.

Over the coming weeks, all HSU members will have an opportunity to vote on this offer. While members vote on the offer industrial action is paused.

There has been some progress on the Government’s offer. Members now need a clear timeline for delivering on these commitments from the Government.

Union members will be kept up to date every step of the way as we navigate this crucial decision-making process. On Monday an email will go out to all members with information on what this offer means for your pay and how the member vote will work.
