Garden Village – have your say on roster changes!

Dear Member,
It’s vital your new rosters work for you – this is the chance to have your say on changes to rosters.
HSU members were recently contacted by Garden Village management to advise it intends to review rosters.
You have the right be consulted on the changes, to ask questions and offer alternative suggestions to reach agreement. If you have not done so, please complete the staff shift preference form HERE and provide Garden Village with details of your preferences and why they are necessary. This will assist in negotiating a roster that is compatible with your life outside of work.

The relevant section of the Garden Village Enterprise Agreement may assist in ensuring your roster is compatible with your life outside of work:
- 32.1 Employees are entitled to request flexible employment arrangements in accordance with the provisions of the NES.
- 32.2 In the following are the circumstances: a) the employee is the parent, or has responsibility for the care, of a child who is of school age or younger:
b) the employee is a carer (within the meaning of the Carer Recognition Act 2010);
c) the employee has a disability;
d) the employee is 55 or older;
e) the employee is pregnant;
f) the employee is experiencing family and domestic violence;
or g) the employee provides care or support an immediate family or household, who is experiencing violence from the member’s family. - 32.3 The employee is not entitled to make the request unless the employee has completed at least 12 months of continuous service with Garden Village immediately before making the request.
- 32.4 Requests for flexible working arrangements must be in be in writing, explain what changes are being asked for and the reasons for the requested change.
- 32.5 Garden Village will discuss and give genuine consideration to all requests.
- 32.6 Garden Village must give the employee a written response to the request within 21 days, stating whether Garden Village grants or refuses the request.
- 32.7 Garden Village may refuse the request on reasonable business grounds, after genuinely try ty to reach agreement on alternative arrangements to accommodate the employee’s circumstances and considered the consequences for refusing the employee’s request.
