Food Services Workers in red zones: update
-
Published September 23, 2022
Food services workers entering red zones is unsafe for workers and the community. Union members have voted: 96% of food services union members will refuse to enter red zones.
At the Joint Consultative Committee, HSU put a simple question to HealthShare: Are you planning to push ahead with the proposal for food services workers to enter red zones? HealthShare management would not give a clear answer. It is very disappointing that HealthShare are not willing to put this unsafe proposal in the rubbish bin where it belongs.
Instead they are arranging for a meeting with HSU next week. They wish to speak with HSU about modelling that has done, and the outcomes of the consultation at Wollongong. HSU continues to be clear: we will never support Food Services workers entering red zones. We will update you after next week’s meeting.
