Ferndale Gardens - What does Major Workplace Change mean to you?
-
Published September 14, 2023
HSU members have raised concerns about proposed workplace change at Ferndale Gardens Aged Care.
Your employer confirmed in writing that the changes are in the payroll system but not in the actual roster. According to clause 8.2 (a) of your Enterprise Agreement, when your employer “has made a definite decision to introduce major changes in production, program, organisation, structure or technology that are likely to have significant effects on Employees, the Employer must notify the Employees who may be affected by the proposed changes and their representatives” - that is your Union.
This isn’t first time your organisation has failed to consult on changes. Earlier this year Ferndale Gardens commenced the transfer of the business to IBIS. HSU representatives wrote to IBIS Care in July 2023, requesting a meeting to speak to members about the changes, including the impact of the ongoing Enterprise Agreement. Your employer has failed to respond.
You have the right to be informed and consulted on changes such as roster changes, a new model of care, or a new business model. If you have any issues or concerns, contact your Organiser Hyojung Kim on [E-Mail not displayed] or 0458 012 322.
If you know a workmate who is not a member of the HSU yet, tell them to join so we can ensure your rights are protected. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or by calling 1300 478 679.
