eHealth Union Win: Members take back control of their career paths

Following months of discussions, industrial action, dispute meetings and even Ministry of Health intervention, Union members in eHealth have achieved a huge win.

eHealth attempted to force through a restructure without consultation with affected staff.

This would have resulted in the AVS/CAS Team being forced apart as part of a ‘realignment’ that would split the united team into two separate teams in different directorates with different duties.

The 100% Union team raised the dispute around the ‘realignment’ back in March and have since participated in no fewer than eight meetings. At these meetings management and the Ministry of Health said nothing could be done.

But union members didn’t give an inch on their right to have a say in how they work. By sticking together and taking industrial action, members forced management to backpedal and reverse the restructure. There will now be a genuine consultation process on how the team should operate going forward.

It is only by standing together and refusing to give in that members were able to achieve what we wanted. This win should serve as a message to management and to all eHealth members that as long as we stay united, our success is guaranteed.

eHealth has also committed to doing things properly in the future. No longer will members be forced into realignments and restructures without having a say. If you have been affected by a restructure or realignment that you were not consulted on, reach out to your eHealth statewide organiser, Josh Dodsworth, via email at [E-Mail not displayed].

When united, eHealth members have the power to achieve incredible things.
