St Basil’s Aged Care has advised that details of the changes will be shared with members at the staff briefing meetings scheduled on 17 January 2024. They will also discuss measures that they will take to mitigate any negative impact on staff.
Your Organiser, Hyojung Kim will be at those meetings. If you have questions or need representation at individual consultation meetings that start January 29. Reach out to your Organiser ASAP on 0458 012 322 or [E-Mail not displayed] and share the news with your colleagues.
It is important for you to know your rights at work during major workplace change. Below are some points to assist with understanding your rights. Your Union is here to help you stand up for your rights. You have the right to;
- Be consulted about the change. Consultation includes time to consider the change, to raise concerns, and to have those concerns properly addressed.
- Say no. Contracted hours cannot be cut without your approval. Cuts to jobs can occur, but only with a redundancy or redeployment to a comparable position.
- Representation. Ensure you are represented by the HSU when discussing major workplace change.
- Request any changes to your job be provided in writing and time to consider your response. Don’t feel rushed. Major changes to your job can have lasting impacts for you and your family.
- Join your Union! Only HSU members get representation and advice to stand up for their rights and protect their job. Encourage your workmates to join our Union today. Join now online www.hsu.asn.au/join or phone 1300 478 679.
