In less than a week, the Federal Government will hand down its most important budget. This is the budget that is meant to fix aged care once and for all.
We’ve done the maths and it’s going to take an extra $7 billion a year make sure we have proper staffing levels in residential aged care, that every home care package is met, and that you and your colleagues are valued and paid for your skills and the work you do.
I know that’s a lot of money, but anything less means the Federal Government will have failed.
I will be down in Canberra on 10 May out the front of Parliament House to make sure Scott Morrison knows we are watching – and that we have hope that after years of a Royal Commission and countless reports, change is finally here.
