This week Bupa has written to the Health Services Union, admitting to underpaying thousands of current and past workers up to $65 - $75 million, going back to 2014. Bupa has undertaken their review and have indicated that employees will start to receive backpay from March next year.
You can view the FAQ document provided by Bupa here.
Bupa now joins the club of aged care employers who have underpaid their workforce. The tally over the last two years alone of these employer underpayments hits over $200 million.
Every worker deserves to be paid for every cent they earn. For Bupa to underpay aged care workers during a pandemic is a disgrace. It is not good enough. The HSU will hold Bupa to account for every cent owing.
If you know someone who isn’t a union member, let them know what’s happening at Bupa and that HSU members will have the support of the Union. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au or by calling 1300 478 679.
In unity,
