Broken Hill Proposed Shift Length Changes
-
Published July 5, 2022
FWLHD management has contacted the HSU about a proposed change to shift lengths for Broken Hill employees.
The correspondence advises the following:
- Under the new Broken Hill Health Employees (State) Award, meal breaks are now to be managed in line with the relevant State award and are no longer paid.
- The District proposes to introduce 8.5hr shifts to replace current 8hr shifts to allow for an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes within the shift.
- For example, this would mean that if you are currently working a shift from 8:30am - 4:30pm, this shift would now become an 8:30am - 5:00pm shift.
The HSU has requested an extension of the consultation period to allow members to have their say on this proposed change.
