As you may be aware, members within the Sterilising Department at Blacktown Hospital voted some two years ago to introduce a work ban around the cleaning and sterilising of loan sets. This was due to a shortage of staff to safely perform these duties.

The HSU has recently received a letter from the General Manager of Blacktown Hospital to advise they now intend to recruit extra staff to allow decanting and recanting of loan sets to occur. They are also looking into extending CSSD operating hours. You can read the letter at this link.

Given the extra resourcing, members may wish to consider lifting the current work ban in place.
