Dear Member,
The Aurora Health Care Enterprise Agreement has been voted into effect and while it’s disappointing the wage increases does not come anywhere close to what HSU members were seeking, members worked tirelessly and built power in the workplace.
The vote shows Aurora Health Care members are divided, but HSU members did run a strong campaign against a relentless management strategy encouraging the “yes” vote.
While the wage increase is not ideal, HSU members stood strong in solidarity and gained some great new conditions, including:
- Ten days’ special leave incorporating natural disasters
- Increased compassionate leave from three days to four
- Superannuation paid on Parental Leave
- Increased Union Representative Leave (as per legislative change)
- Mandatory training: now included in E-Learning clause and to be paid hour for hour
- Overtime payment to apply to any work done outside of rostered hours, including meal breaks
- Vicarious trauma training (incorporated into internal training)
- Review of hours of work from (per week) 12 days to 10 days
- HSU participation in orientation of new employees
- Workload management clause review: Aurora has adopted the HSU clause, with permanent time allocated in roster for clinical notes and documentation for health professionals.
Your organiser will be visiting your worksites in the next weeks to debrief with members. This isn’t the end! We need to keeping working together to build more power for the next fight!
