Aged care workers – are you being paid correctly? Make sure you find out!

Dear Member,
Are you being paid correctly? It’s important you find out!
Last year, HSU members fought hard as part of the HSU Work Value Case to secure a fair pay increase for all aged care workers.
As a direct care worker in aged care, you would have seen a significant change to your hourly rate on June 30, 2023, due to the interim decision by the Fair Work Commission. This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of HSU members as part of the Work Value Case.
Since the changes to the Aged Care Award, HSU members have frequently found the interpretation of the Certificate III qualified carer rate of pay has been incorrectly applied across the sector.
Are you a direct care worker with a Certificate III qualification? You should be receiving as a minimum, a rate of $30.11/hr.
This is your legal entitlement. HSU members fought for and won these increases. Employers should not be pocketing your wage increase.
If you are not receiving this rate or higher, please contact your local organiser, email [E-Mail not displayed] or call 1300 478 679.
While we wait for the decision of Stage 3 in the Work Value Case, our fight for the full 25 percent for all aged care workers continues.
If you want to know more about the fight or how to get involved contact your local organiser, email [E-Mail not displayed]or call 1300 478 679.
Know someone who isn’t a member? Someone who isn’t getting their legal entitlements? Encourage your workmates to join the HSU. New members can join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
