Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Workers: Recognition of attainment

Published August 10, 2021
The HSU has recently met with the National Association of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners (NAATSIHWP) regarding their campaign to have the current Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice replaced by the Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.
This is in recognition of the units and hours in the workplace for the current Certificate IV being equal or greater than a Diploma. The Australian Industry and Skills Committee will consider this matter at their October 2021 meeting and feedback to Skills IQ closes Friday 13th August 2021 at 5:00pm via [E-Mail not displayed].
You can find the consultation paper from SkillsIQ at this link and a template letter of support from NAATSIHWP here. These documents are being supplied for members’ information and if wish to provide feedback to SkillsIQ.
