Coming out of the 2020 bushfires, the HSU developed the HSU Welfare Fund to support members who experience extreme hardship because of natural disasters. Members may be eligible for up to $1,000 from the HSU Welfare Fund to assist.

Members may apply to receive a benefit payment from the Welfare Fund in the event that
they have experienced hardship arising from the following events:

• storms;
• floods;
• earthquakes;
• bushfires;
• cyclones;
• any other event which in the absolute discretion of the Trustees constitutes a
  natural disaster.
