Since July this year, members at St Luke Lulworth House have been patiently working with their local organiser to resolve an underpayment and backpay issue.

According to management, there has been a delay because the payroll team had to review the wages for all employees. On 2 September, management confirmed the calculation will be completed this week, with backpay to follow.

The anxiety caused by the delay is understandable. Members are reminded that you can make a small claims application for backpay up to 6 years after the underpayment period. HSU members have resolved many such issues in this way.

Remember that it’s only because HSU members raised this issue that the underpayment is being fixed for nearly 30 workers in the care stream. When we stand together, we are stronger.
